Visualization of the caudal horns of the meniscus can be a challenge. Often the process of exposing the caudal horn can result in distortions. A normal meniscus can look damaged or a “bucket handle” tear can sit back and look normal. It is helpful to gently probe the meniscus to establish its true condition. Dimensions refer to length of tip. Use 1 mm in dogs <30 kg and for dogs >30 kg use a 2 mm. Also useful for manipulation of nerves and nerve roots.
