Challenge: From scratch, build a large clinic that can serve all animals in the community

Goals of the project:

Build a new clinic that could serve the growing community known as The Gorge
Create a separate calm and quiet area for patients coming out of anesthesia
Serve all animals in the community

Dr. Cynthia Lindsay’s old practice was 1,100 square feet, dogs and cats only, three employees.

Now, Columbia Veterinary Hospital in The Dalles, Oregon, is 5,600 square feet with 20 employees and sees everything from dogs and cats to Kunekune pigs. Lindsay attended a Patterson-hosted Guiding Practice Success event in Leesburg, Virginia. “They had all the tools there to help me: an architect, the trade show floor with all of the new equipment, talking about do’s and don’ts of construction, how to find a proper contractor, the questions to ask. I knew where I wanted to be, but I needed to fill in the whole process between where I was and where I wanted to be. And GPS really allowed me to do that.”
